Antique beautiful Violin labeled XAV. KERSCHENSTEINER. Ratisbonae fecit anno 18

This is an old violin with signed Lifton case from a local estate (no bow). It is labeled “XAV. KERSCHENSTEINER. Ratisbonae fecit anno 18” (see image #12). It measures 23 1/4” long, with 14 1/8” long x 8 1/4” wide back. It looks to be quite a high quality violin, with dramatic tiger grain wood and beautiful carved scroll with grungy old varnish finish (see images). It’s in exactly as-found unrestored estate item condition. Sound-post is upright inside. It displays great and we can’t see any concerns aside from a few expected scratches, but we’re not experts and we are not sure what it would need to be in top playing condition again so being sold just as-found AS-IS for restoration, old parts, or display. Case looks to be higher quality and will provide good protection for shipping. Beautiful looking instrument! Please ask any questions before bidding.
